The
US Open Snowboarding Championship is the pinnacle snowboarding event
of the season. Founded by Jake Burton, the Open have grown from
grassroots events to global spectacles attracting tens of thousands
of spectators and riders from around the world. The Open welcome
all riders to compete, giving locals, amateurs and pros an equal
shot at a world-class title.
The
Philips US Open in Vermont set the standard for snowboarding events
around the globe. For the past twenty years, the world's top riders
have religiously flocked to southern Vermont each March to battle
it out on Stratton Mountain's hallowed slopes with one goal in mind
- to take home the coveted US Open championship crown.
Stratton Mountain Resort, the home of the US Open Snowboarding Championships,
is nestled in the heart of southern Vermont's Green Mountains. The
US Open at the Sunbowl.
2004 saw The Philips US Open televised for the first time by NBC.
The official home of the 2006 Olympics, NBC brought snowboarding
to the forefront of the 2002 Winter Games through its excellent
coverage and knowledge of the sport. With a reach of over 104 million
homes, NBC enabled the masses to take in the excitement of the Open.
